Fete and Songs of Praise

Despite the poor weather for several days beforehand, the afternoon of the Fete was just right.
Ifeel sure that the organisers must have been gratified by the good numbers who attended and then stayed for the afternoon. There were plenty of things to do for all members of the family. The "Songs ofPraise" the following evening was also well attended - a pleasant opportunity toget together on a lovely evening to sing God's praises. An approximate amount of£2,200 was raised, with expenses amounting to £400; this will be sharedbetween the seven organisations of the village. Many thanks to all who helped or took part and to everyone who turned upon the day.Winners of the scarecrow competition were 1st Mr. and Mrs Waterhouse, 2nd Mr and Mrs Reed, 3rd Mrs Lorraine Pinner. The Silver Jubilee cup was shared by MaryWaterhouse and Lindy Edmondson. TheFloral Art cup was won by Jane Dickens, and the Woman's Institute shield by SandyLister. The children did well.
